Trying to install latest build in windows and failing

I've tried installing in Windows 7 and Vista 64 but the installer fails. Sometimes it says No CD detected, cannot run CD menu. Sometimes if I go to the CD directly and click the Kubuntu install it will start but then it says its trying to download the torrent file for karmic-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent. Any ideas whats wrong?

Can I install without messing up my Windows 7 and Windows Vista installs?

        Hi,

although the final releases of the kubuntu installer works flawless in resizing partitions you should be aware that this is a pre-release of Kubuntu and you should be cautious.

You could always install it in a Virtual Machine if you don't have a spare machine.

        Best regards.
        Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
        Release: 14.04
        Codename: trusty

Do you have a dual boot machine with Vista and 7?

          How is the disk partitioned?

Have you run the live Kubuntu CD? If yes, did it detect all of your partitions?

How much space do you want for each of Windows 7, Vista and Kubuntu Karmic?

Are you sure that you want Karmic - presently alpha, rather than Jaunty - the current stable release?

Did you check the Kubuntu CD MD5sum before you tried installing it?

I tried Jaunty but it gets stuck on a black screen with a cursor in the upper left hand side of the screen and proceeds no futher. I ran the Live CD and it did detect all the drives. Not sure about the MD5sum.

Please check the MD5sum of the ISO before installing. If you don't know how or why to check the MD5sum, then maybe the post HOW TO verify the Kubuntu ISO (BEFORE YOU BURN YOUR CD!) will help you. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but it is intended to encourage and help people who don't know how.
