I'm having trouble adding the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) to my cable network connection, (no router) When I click the network manager there is no connection to edit. When I try to add a new connection there's no selection for ipv4, and after saving the connection it doesn't show up in the network manager. Any ideas? Thank you.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Are your ISP DNS servers inadequate or inaccurate? Why would you think that Google's servers would be any better?
Nothing against Google, but since this is causing a problem, I would strongly recommend not pursuing it any further.The next brick house on the left
