Running Kubuntu 9.10, and I am on line with the desired static IP on my home network, BUT...
There is no icon showing for a network manager. If I go to my user settings->Network & Connectivity->Network Settings, and then click on the Network Settings tab, I get the error message "Could not parse the XML file ()."
Since there's no file name, I figure there is no XML file to parse, thus the inability to parse it. However, I have managed to get the system configured (possibly by distribution upgrades picking up old settings), and I wonder why there's no networking icon showing in the tray and what I could do to make the configuration more transparent. I've tried searching the forums for that error message with no luck. I'm game for manually installing and removing packages, since I suspect that I have multiple things "managing" or trying to manage my network.
Thanks
