Re: Kubuntu and Vista machines don't recognize each other.

However, it was not possible to see anything on the Kubuntu machine from the Vista machine. Vista still does not recognize that there's something there to connect to, and I am beginning to suspect it's a problem in configuration on the Kubuntu machine, though I know so little about this that I could easily be wrong.
    Perhaps:
1/ Vista is not getting the ip, or
2/ it can't read the file system the Kubuntu is using (ext3?).

BTW: what are the two machine addresses?
BTW2: I looked up 2Wire Homeportal and was quite offended to find out that 2Wire is a brand name and not a wiring topology. I guess they want to confuse people. >

I don't know. I believe I'm using ext3 on the Kubuntu machine, but I was reading somewhere that Samba is supposed to make it irrelevant for Windows to have to read anything.

      Kubuntu is 192.168.1.65
      Vista is 192.168.1.66

An update to my last post, I have managed to copy files from Vista to Kubuntu in Dolphin. I haven't tried it the other way yet, but it seems I'm getting close to a somewhat complicated way to do it when I need to. I just have to figure out why the Vista machine is asking for my password every five seconds, or less.
