    9.10 KPPP isn't providing satisfaction

Hey folks. Fresh install of 9.10. In the past when installing fresh (prior Kubuntu versions), I have copied my kppprc file over and away I went. Currently I'm getting a lot of unexpected behavior:

    1. When I start KPPP I have to enter my password. How can I set it
up so it runs as a regular user?

    2. After a few moments I get the following nastygram "Error launching
    /usr/share/applications/kde4/Kppp.desktop. Either KLauncher is not
running anymore, or it failed to start the application." Clicking OK
seems to let me continue, but...

    3. When I then try and configure KPPP, the OK button stays grayed out
    so I can't save/configure anything.

    4. Copying over my old kppprc file doesn't seem to do anything.

    5. I have tried purging the app and reinstalling. Nothing changes.

I too experiance the same problem.
But i created one link to application to kppp in desktop.
Then the password giving problem overs. It is starting without asking password.

Another way to do this is by changing the owner of the file kppp as user by chown command.

But i suppose you got secon problem whenever you open kppp using Alt+F2, I too experience tha same.. I too dono what to do for second problem

OK, sometimes all we need is a shove in some direction... Thanks for your reply.

      hodges@computer:~$ ls -l /usr/bin/kppp
      -rwsr-xr-- 1 root dip 615596 2009-10-19 08:26 /usr/bin/kppp*

I added my name to the dip group and after rebooting I could run kppp from a terminal. I still had trouble configuring the app, but running it at least created a kppprc file. I then replaced that rc file with my old one, and I was able to run and completely configure kppp. (An interesting point... All the machines I dial in to are behind a phone switch and require a code, e.g., #22, to switch through to the desired machine. I used to have to put the code in the dialing string as \#22, but now it must be simply #22.)

OK, running KPPP from the panel was still not working. Right clicking on the icon and choosing "icon settings" pulls up the config window. Under the application tab choose "Advanced Settings." There KPPP can be set to run as a different user. This made the icon on the panel change to a question mark, but I was able to change it back to the regular KPPP icon.

So, once again all is well in the world.
