Re: knetworkmanager not starting
Not much. icon settings/remove this icon/panel options
But nothing to get into the gui.
------------------------------------------------UPDATE-----------------------------------
I just installed wicd and it doesn't see any wireless networks. Perhaps my wireless card is not supported in 9.10
Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g (rev 01) (from lspci)
I went to system/hardware drivers an selected broadcom sta wireless driver. No joy. There was another driver to select but does not show up now, even after uninstalling the sta driver. I'd like to try the other driver but can't get to it.Dell Inspiron 531/AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 4GB RAM/GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Re: knetworkmanager not starting
I figured it out. "lshw -C network" showed my wireless was using eth2. I just changed it in wicd and all is working.Dell Inspiron 531/AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 4GB RAM/GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
