I installed karmic Koala on my laptop a packard bell and the wireless card does not work at all. After I installed it on a desktop pc witk a belkin n adapter see 1 of my wireless networks but can´t connet keep asking the wpa key the other wireless network he doesn´t see at all I tried it with the RC in Kubuntu 9.04 with kde 4.3.2 it works without a problem anyone got an idee

Hi,
I got into the same problem with an Intel 5100 chipset on an Acer Aspire AS1410. The solution that worked for me is to upgrade to very latest kernel. It assumes that your ethernet adapter is working of course...

I had the same problem after upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 on my Sony Vaio laptop using an Atheros wireless card. I solved the problem through hints on the Ubuntu forum. I changed the following 2 files:
In /etc/modprobe.d/ directory...
- edit the file blacklist-ath_pci.conf (needs sudo) and comment the line "blacklist ath5k";
- edit the file madwifi.conf (needs sudo) and comment the line "blacklist ath5k";
After rebooting the wireless networks became available on my laptop.
If you have an Atheros wireless card, this could possibly work for you, too.
