dpi set too high on Acer aspire one

I have just tried installing karmic on my acer aspire one (ZG5). The screen size is correctly identified but all the fonts are large and xdpyinfo reports the resolution as 133x135 dpi.

I first got this when I tried installing a custom xfce install using the mini iso to the harddrive. Thinking it was probably a mistake I made when installing I also tried with a kubuntu 9.10 live usb. This gives the same problem. Graphics is an intel 950 (I think). Any ideas?

    thanks

Thanks for the reply. I will try that tomorow. I did try something similar on the xfce install. It did result in the fonts being drawn to the correct size but they weren't as sharp as they should be. I wondered whether it was because the display driver was still working at the base high dpi and the fonts were then shrunk.
