Kubuntu boot up problem, specifically, blank screen after kubuntu logo...

hey all, im having this problem when i boot up my kubuntu os on my laptop:

when i select it from GRUB, it boots up fine, and gets to the kubuntu logo/scrolling bar thing, but then it goes to a blank screen which i cannot do anything with. i dont know whats happening because, lets face it, im a noob at kubuntu, and i don't know where to start nor what to do. so i could appreciate any help that you can give me. thanks!!!

As it says in the FAQ, when you see the boot menu, highlight the kernel you intend to boot (normally the top one). Press "e" to edit. Cursor to the end of the line, add a space and the code that you wish to try. Then "Enter" and with the same kernel line highlighted, press "b" to boot it.

Don't worry, there are no permanent changes to anything by this procedure. When you find a code that lets it boot to the desktop, then you will edit your grub menu file to add that code permanently.

I am having a similar problem, hooless.

Did you try to wait something about 3 minutes in the console longin? If i wait, kde suddenly boot to my user as nothing happened.

I added the parameters "acpi=off noapic" int he boot line (pressing e during GRUB) and the boot went fine.
Then, i updated the system (kernl ...-16) and now it is working perfectly.

It works only with the parameter "acpi=off", but only on kernel ...-15 and the system gets really slow.

              Any ideia?

Press "e" over any entry of the grub main screen and then insert the parameter at the end of the biggest line on ithe command boot editor.

It seems that "acpi=off noapic" never worked in fact.
It happens that sometimes kubuntu just boot perfectly, i just cant figure out why...

I tried to remane the ~/.kde folder but it didnt work too.

                      Any another suggestion?

I updated to kde 4.3.4 and problem is still there...

I am not good with log files, but somebody can say which one of them can bring me usefull information?
