(absolutely) no sound under 9.10 with a dell xt2
environment:
- dell xt2
- fresh installation
I think I tried all recommendations in this forum and those in the ubuntu forum. Alas, sound would not work. Here is what helped me.
Just follow the instructions:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting
Basically the problem was a missing entry in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsabase.conf
It seems that alsa needs to have the right entry for the sound driver. For the dell xt2 the right entry was:
model=dell-m4-3
Here is the entry in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsabase.conf which I use:
# Keep snd-pcsp from being loaded as first soundcard
options snd-pcsp index=-2
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-3
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
Now sound end everything is fine.
