    Graphics failure on bootup

Over the last couple of days, a problem with graphics in bootup has appeared. I am using the proprietary NVIDIA driver (in this case, 190.42). Every time I boot, I get an error screen saying that it can't load the fonts, and wants to drop back to low graphics mode. If I go to console, then stop and restart kdm, it works properly. Unfortunately, since the suspend functions don't work, I am rebooting several times a day, so this is a problem.
It appears that the system is trying to start kdm before the graphics driver is loaded. I tried removing sreadahead, but this didn't solve it.

Edit: I should mention that I have tried reinstalling the driver, no change in the problem.

This may be related to another post, and to the -15 kernel updates:

but I'm not getting the "beeping" problems.

Same (or very similar) problem here. My notice also says something about X keyboard events (XKEV, or something like that) not loaded. However, I wasn't able to restart KDM--possibly because I don't 'get' upstart yet...

I don't think it's directly related to the -15 kernel version, because I tried booting with the -14 kernel and got the same message.
