Been using gnome for over a year. Installed Ubuntu karmic-koala 32-bit. Installed Kubuntu desktop, and love it. Need to purge Gnome desktop. Need Help. Thanks

    Re: Gnome

This might be a good place to start:
    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde
(I'd probably use "apt-get purge" instead of "apt-get remove", but your call)

Note that it will also remove all gnome programs that you may have installed, so if you wish to keep some of those for some reason, you'll need to reinstall them.

      Re: Gnome

Hi Thanks for the help I tried that right before I posted here. This is the error message from Terminal. endding package lists... Done
      Building dependency tree
      Reading state information... Done
Package notification-daemon is not installed, so not removed
Package xscreensaver is not installed, so not removed
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libmagickcore2: Depends: libgraphviz4 (>= 2.20.0) but it is not going to be installed
      E: Broken packages

        Re: Gnome

Looks like there is a dependency error with that command, try installing 'libgd2-noxpm' first (this should also remove libgd2-xpm) to see if it resolves the error.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for your suggestion. It solved my problem too! KDE 4.3 rocks.
