Is there a conflict with Gnome apps and Kubuntu9.10?

Hi
I had great difficulty installing 9.10 to install I had to format all partitions and start again, after this it worked fine.
I like to use Evolution for my e-mails I installed Evolution in Kubuntu 9.10 and I was back to a blank screen again.
I booted to root prompt and removed Evolution and it works O.K. again.
Evolution worked fine with Kubuntu 9.04
