Re: Failed Update: Mount of rootfilesystem failed - HELP!

Thanks Snowhog for merging the threads. At least I know I am not the only one with this particular prob.

But it would appear that the solution is to start again?

I don't know what made me attempt an upgrade. Perhaps because I did one from 7 to 9 and it worked fine. Its not a big disaster if I have to start from scratch as I am still "experimenting" with Linux and havent begun to rely on it big time.
But it would be a pain to reinstall all the apps and stuff so I would like to see if I can go a bit further. After all, all the previous stages seemed to work just fine.

I read somewhere that it may be to do with the config file - if such a file exists. I remember it asked if I wanted to keep the existing config file. I said YES, thinking that its the best way to keep all my old settings but may its trying to use that and failing. Is there someway of changing that at start up ?
I may be barking up the wrong tree completely off course.

    thanks everyone....
