    Installer does not seem harddisks

Under installation (from live CD or from desktop under booted kubuntu live CD) the disk setup step does not seem the hard drives. All previous (k)ubuntu and other distro can install without problem, Just 9.10!
The system seem the HDD-s (command line parted, and konqueror). Nothing changes made on hardware...

Go into your BIOS, and see what the "mode" setting is for your hard drive. Whatever it is, change it. Then try the installer again.

After Linux is installed, you may be able to change it back to the original mode, if you wish.

I try this nothing... In BIOS, 3 choiche: disabled , compatible, enhanced. default is enhanced, but i try both mode.
      Any other idea?
Why working perfectly ALL other program with HDD-s? And under working 9.10 (liveCD) system, why not work the installer?

I have this exact same problem, the Installer does not see my SATA drive... It is even visible in dolphin - I can browse it too. Also the live installer does not display properly either - it defaults to 1600x1200, but is not fitting on the screen properly and I can't see the main panel - when I change the resolution it only displays a few blue lines across the screen.

In addition to what these guys said, or maybe along the same lines, you might reboot using GParted Live CD and see what GParted sees (check each partition: right-click > information). See if there's any red flags, damage, etc.

Re: Installer does not seem harddisks

well this is annoying... I did a distribution upgrade from 9.04 and that method didn't work either...

Guess I've got the alternate cd & dvd image left to try, but if those don't work it's back to $hitty gnome

Re: Installer does not seem harddisks

well got it installed via the alternate cd, but still had the funny graphics problem until I got the nvidia driver installed - seems that they've made kubuntu more like fedora - a real pain in the ass to install , sigh at least I can now use the os

Yes, I have same problem. System can found and see my SATA HDD, but installer doesn't.

Re: Installer does not see hard disks

I also have a problem with the installer. I have 2 separate 250GB SATA drives but the installer only shows a RAID with no partition, though I haven't mounted any RAID! The exact name is:
                          Code:
Serial ATA RAID isw_dgagjfcigc_BootRAID1()-250.1 GB Linux device-mapper
I have tried the 3 different modes available in the BIOS with no success. Also with the live CD, Dolphin does not display my hard drives either. fdisk displays them correctly but I cannot mount them. I have written the details here: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?board=110.0

Everything worked fine with the 8.10 and 9.04 live CDs.

I found only one way how to get a new version of Kubuntu with my SATA - install 9.04 and upgrade to 9.10.
