    Upgrade without installing NetworkManager?

Hello, I was hoping I could get a little help.

I upgraded to the RC on my desktop previously and it uninstalled and overwrote Wicd with NetworkManager.

I have absolutely terrible luck with NetworkManager =(, and when I upgrade to the RC the NetworkManager (re)installation completely hosed my wireless setup, and i don't think it can be fixed.

Anyways, my laptop that works fine with Wicd;, I want to upgrade to 9.10 but I don't want to install NetworkManager during the upgrade. Is it possible to keep it from being installed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Although there are aptidude commands (see: man apt-get) to hold the installation of certain packages I'd not take any risk and first download the wicd.deb to a safe place and then do the full upgrade.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/wicd...l.deb/download

Once done you can re-install the locally kept wicd.deb using, for example, gdebi.
