Re: update yesterday == no boot today?

Oh sweet... Ok, The version on the nvidia.com site has the old one I guess. Im getting this one and will try it.

    One other quick question...

When I boot to kde and try to ctrl+alt+f1 to get to a terminal, the screen gets all corrupted. I can go back to X without issue, but am left modifying /etc/default/grub to remove splash and then updating grub and rebooting.

Is this normal, or should there be a permanent fix for this?

    Thanks!!!

    Joe

      No, that's a video screwup.

Can you see the console well enough to type in it?

Even if you blindly log in, you should be able to stop KDM and then see a plain text console. In other words:

      Ctrl-Alt-F1 (and see the junk)
type your user name and press Enter
type your password and press Enter
type "sudo service kdm stop" with no quote marks, and press Enter

and then it should be clear text. From there you can proceed with removing nvidia* and then running the installer.

I recommend copying the download over to /tmp, and doing the installation from there. When you reboot, it all gets cleaned up automatically.
