Hi All,

i updated my dell 1505 laptop from 9.04 to 9.10 alpha. now the boot time went up six fold. it used to boot in 60-100 sec. now it is taking 500-1000 sec . once the system is up and running everything seems to work fine except bluetooth, which is crashing every time and i can't mount my NTFS partition.

can you guys help me fixing this?

Try this: Make a backup copy of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file, then edit it and remove the "splash" and "quiet" commands from the kernel you are booting with. When you restart, this will give you a screen full of text during boot and shutdown, and you might be able to see where it is hanging.
There is another post (I can't locate it at the moment, try searching) regarding ntfs problems.

though I don't know if it's the same problem as yours.
Please post your /etc/fstab file.

the only error that i can see "probing vboxnetflt failed"

What you are looking for is some step in the boot process that is taking a lot of time to complete.
If you don't see it stalling on a specific command, then the other thing you might try is, once the system is up, open konsole and type

top

That will tell you if some process is using a lot of cpu time. There have been problems with kded running 100% cpu time in the past.
