Alpha 5 Live CD question

I downloaded the Alpha 5 and tried it as a live disk in a laptop. It booted with no problem, the desktop appeared but i cant click on anything hovernig the mouse over the folder or ubloger widgets doesnt show the controls on the edge.

any ideas?

I downloaded a Karmic daily build (on the 12th) and even though it checked out with a good md5sum on both the ISO, burned at 10x, and the burned CD, it wouldn't boot to the desktop. It failed even before it attempted to run the xserver.

That's why it's called "ALPHA". If you didn't download the daily build I'd use it instead of the now very old Alpha5.
