I often use "sudo aptitude safe-upgrade" from the command line rather than using the GUI (Add and remove software/software updates) for upgrades. I've noticed this will remove blocked updates from the GUI, is this a good thing? I'm not using "sudo aptitude full-upgrade" trying to run the block on purpose. I thought safe-upgrade was "SAFE?" Comments. anyone?

Re: Bypass blocked update
The answer to that, and 100 other updating-related questions, is undoubtedly found in Rog131's dissertation here:

Re: Bypass blocked update
Thanks, that explains a lot. I wonder why there was no link to this when I put my question in "Search?" It would have saved us both time.
