Fan control adventures

Hello,
I have just installed Kubuntu 9.10 on my Fujitsu S6410 laptop.
The problem: the fan is ALWAYS running high speed.
Current solution : close the lid once -- the laptop sleeps --
open again -- tataa : fan control works .....
Is there a more practical solution ?
