my gf ipod is auto-mounting to /tmp and only has root permission! firstly why? and secondly how can I get it to mount tt /media and with allowing me to have red/write permission?

Re: annoying ipod problem!
Mine shows as another USB device, and when I mount it, Dolphin opens showing a sort of file structure inside the iPod. I would advice you against manipulating directly files and folders in Dolphin and instead using gtkPod (first choice for me nowadays) or Amarok (quite buggy in its current state)
