I've switched today from 8.04 to 9.10, not upgrading but wiping the disk, starting with (gag) XP, then a fresh 9.10, with my /home stuff on a USB drive for now.
My Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX webcam worked fine with Cheese and Camorama on 8.04, but on 9.10 Cheese can only see one frame, then its eye freezes. You can switch to Effects and back, and you'll get one new frame. Camorama says "Unable to capture image". (And why is Camorama in the "Graphics" submenu while Cheese is in "Multimedia"? )
Probably I don't have an appropriate driver, but the Logitech site has no Linux drivers for my cam. It worked on 8.04, though, so some sort of Linux driver is available if I knew where to look for it and what it might be called.
Anyone point me in a useful direction? Happy Solstice!
