Okay upgraded from 8.04, my pc is pretty much a stock emachines w3629. The soundcard is actually from RealTek, probably uses and intel chip. I had loud popping noises everytime something would access the sound card for the first time or after it was idle for a while. Found the fix through Google here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/382140
Anyway, when I was using 8.04 I could plug in the headphones one the front of the computer and audio would drop from the speakers. The only problem was if you left the headphones in when shutting down -- PC would come up and sound would be pumped out of both speakers and headphone...simply unplugging and replugging the headphones would fix.
In 9.01 no dice...I have to use the knob on the speakers to stop. I can live with it, but was curious if anyone had a fix?
