Kubuntu Hardware driver not installed with jockey-kde?

After a fresh installation of Kubuntu 9.10, I got almost everything working without configuration.
I start "Hardware Driver". It told me that my ATI HD4850 card need a driver.
Then I click "Activate" and nothing happened any more. No driver installation.

Is there any workaround for this issue?

I had to exit out and come back into Hardware Drivers before it started to work. For some reason the application does not always respond properly.

Also, the download process does take a little while to run but the progress meter does not show it (at least it was like that in the RC phase).
