Brightness control goes crazy Kubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix

    Hello everyone,

I own a MSI Wind u120, in which I installed Kubuntu 9.10 Netbook remix. It almost worked flawlessly, but it had a problem with the screen brightness when I control it via Fn+F4/F5.

If I don´t pree those buttons, everything goes fine, but if I press it, the brightness gets crazy, and It makes the system usable.

I need to find a way to control the brightness without those buttons, I thought in using the terminal for it, but don´t know how to command it for this.

Thank you all for your time, I hope you can help me in this one! Don´t want to go back to windows xp ! hahaha

I have the same problem, with the same PC. What I did, first was to disable the keyboard shortcuts, and that works MOST of the time. I can still adjust brightness with the Fn keys, but the % bar doesnt show on the screen.

Lately (perhaps because of the upgrades....) it started acting crazy again, even with the shortcuts disabled, so, if I want to adjust it, I do it via the battery icon on the taskbar.

    Cheers.

    Frank.

i'm using full version of Kubuntu 9.10 on my MSI Wind u100... have the same problems when i'm on batteries... probably its a powerdevil problem. :-(

i read from the ubuntu forums that there's a kernel update for these but not yet tested. maybe we can get it from ubuntu-update repos.
