Would anyone tell me how to change icon for application starter for KDE.

You are posting under the Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope. With the Kubuntu 9.04 there are two options with the KDE 4. You could use the KDE 4.2 or KDE 4.3.

With the KDE 4.2 > HOWTO : create own (partial) icon theme >> Start here kde

With the KDE 4.3. Right click the Kickoff button > Application Launcher settings > Icon... (earlier > Re: Kubuntu logo )

If you mean, as Rog131 posted, the K Menu button (see image below), then:

Right-click on K Menu button > Application Launcher Settings and then click on the displayed icon itself.
