Changing Theme For Desktop or Panel widgets

    Hi,

I have migrated from Kubuntu 8.04 LTS to 9.04 AMD64 few days ago.
Quite Impressed with it. I getting almost 1.5 to 2 times performance
on same hardware though facing some UI glitches system is stable and sturdy
Very Very nice work I am extremely happy as I was with 8.04 32 bit for last 2/3 years.

hardware is Dell Vostro 1710, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 8600M GS, Driver installed from NVidia site
rather than restricted from repositories No special X-Configs whatever installer did.

Since the environment is bit new I am facing a little problem in configuring look and feel
of desktop those as as follows.

    1. I could not find any way to change theme for widgets placed on panel or desktop.
    2. I could not get magnifier Desktop effect working. In this I get only a rectangle with original size
moving with cursor than showing magnified image in that rectangle.

Hope somebody guides me about these two points. There are other issues too but those are
intermittent and I feel that will be addresed soon in 9.1 release which is due this month end.
I am eagerly waiting for that and after migrating to it, I will post if necessary.

    Thanks and Best Regards

    Raja.

How can I change my Plasma theme?

Right click on your current desktop, select "Desktop Settings" (alternatively, you can select the same option from the desktop cashew) and you will find the option under "Desktop Theme". You can also download new themes directly from there by clicking the "New Theme" button, using Get Hot New Stuff (GHNS).

How can I change my Plasma theme?

Right click on your current desktop, select "Appearance Settings" (alternatively, you can select the same option from the desktop cashew) and you will find an option to change the theme in the dialog that will appear. You can also download new themes directly from there, using Get Hot New Stuff (GHNS).

Thanks for valuable hints I will try that out.
Some How I missed that or overlooked it.

No Zoom In/Out is Not working.

How to set Zoom Settings ?
<meta>+= shows Rectangle, <meta>+0 removes it but <meta>++, Meta+- has no effect.
I think default zoom setting is 100% need to be changed to say 150% but How ?

      Thanks and best regards.

Hmm - your system is more workable than my . Here the "desktop magnifier effect" is not working at all. Could be that my hardware/drivers are too old (OpenGL support). There are some apps that need the very last hardware/OpenGL support (?).

I don't think that you should have that problem (Nvidia 8600M GS).

Here the plasma widget magnifigue (KDE 4.3) and the KMagnifier (both KDE 4.2&4.3) are working without problems.

My guess is that it is fixed.
