[resolved] Lightscribe & Labeler software install

09/28/09***Edit*** Note to all who read this thread....
Although I was able to install this software, I have not been able to get my CD burners, Kb3 & Brasero, to write to an HP CD yet.

    Fellow Buntus,

Just recently installed light scribe using the how to by integr8te. http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3090172.0

The installation was successful with the following exception, I used "SimpleLabeler" software for my labeling program instead of "Lacie Lightscribe Labeler".

Couldn't get Lacie to download earlier. although, I have managed to save the Lacie download as of this post.

Moving on... My problem is that I cannot put the "SimpleLabeler" in my K-Menu because I dont have a command to run it. No icon was created automatically after the install, so I had to go and find the x-executable in dolphin & click on that to run the program. It works just fine. I have tried running the program from the command line to no avail.

***1st: I would like to create a command to run this program. How would I accomplish this. from my searches it seems I need to create a bash script. I could be on the wrong track here, so I was hoping to hear from one of you guys.

***2nd: I want to put the program in my K-menu. These instructions are provided in the referenced thread above, but it seems I need the "command to run the program" for this to work.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Re: Lightscribe & Labeler software install

when runing a app. frome the CLI or a shortcut you nead the full path to the executable.

so if the programs cald - fubar - and lives in /usr/bin the comand to launch would be /usr/bin/fubar

a launcher or shortcut will have a line for comand and path to witch will nead these as well

and you can launch things from the alt>F2 launcher

      Thanks alot Vinny!

I will try your suggestion & post the outcome next chance I get.

      ****EDIT****

I followed the advice that Vinny gave by (Alt+F2) and typing the full path to the program. It worked as Vinny explained. I have since been able to set it up in my K-Menu.

Also created an alias to make the command short & simple.

      Thanks again Vinnywright!
