We have three different L305 Toshibas around, so of course they all work differently . . .
Anyway, when using the logout through the menu (Jaunty kde3 remix) on one of them, X eventually goes black, also seizing all keyboard input so that it can't switch to a console, either. It stays there forever.
I can still ssh in and kill kdm-kde3, gaining access to the machine again, and kdm can be restarted.
If I kill with alt-ctrl-delete, I get a new login screen in due course.
