Kopete & SMS

Can someone please tell me how to add an SMS account to kopete when I go to add there are no providers shown. I tried searching for SMS in synaptic but I only got more confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance,
Angel

No luck using Mr. Google. Seems that this package was available in earlier releases of Kubuntu, but isn't in the later/newer versions.

Re: Kopete & SMS

Czech Jabber server www.jabbim.cz offers a service named SMS Transport for sending SMS to Czech mobile providers from IM client. You can register the service as it is a friend and than add your mobile friends. Maybe there are similar possibilities in your country. If it is what you are looking for.

strang hear on

Kopete
Version 0.70.90
Using KDE 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1)

going to setings>configure>Accounts>add account

brings up a list of 14 Messaging Service's and SMS is one of them

perhaps reinstall kopete and see if it helps.

Wow! How did I miss that, meaning, why didn't I ask Mrs_Angel_D what version of Kopete was installed!

Re: Kopete & SMS

I have the same as you,

Kopete Version 0.70.90
KDE 4.3.1

and going to accounts -> add brings up the services like you said. Once I chose SMS I get to account information, here's a screenshot of what that looks like:

I get no options in the provider window at all. I searched for the SMSSend package in the repo's but there isn't a package with this name.

Re: Kopete & SMS

In the window you sent, there is an option SMS deliver service with default value SMSSend. The option has another value SMSClient and for that value there is a package smsclient in repository with description:"smsclient is a tool for sending short messages".

Re: Kopete & SMS

I had already tried SMSclient but I could never get it working. However on a whim I download the hardy SMSsend package and it installed fine, now I have providers to choose from in the drop down menu

Thanks for all your feedback guys!

Re: Kopete & SMS

I had concidered that as an option. Glad that that made the SMS provider listing available. Let us know if you actually get it all working. If you do, then one should seriously report this as a bug in the current release of Kopete.
