Sorry, but I have been Googling and searching for some hours, and have run out of steam.
Apparently, the developers have decreed I must use a password even if I don't want to. So, if I do automatic log-in, Evolution will not let me send/receive without the message:
Enter Password for default keyring to unlock.
I must say it seems at times Linux developers are simulating MS folks who take away the choices we appreciate in Linux. Just saying.
I found some hits on Evolution Help Online, but they said things like:
Applications > Accessoried > Password and Encryptions, and there are no such menu items on Kubuntu.
I tried renaming the files in .gnome2 > Keyrings and it worked the same.
I returned names to those two files, and moved them, which was a good thing, because when I rebooted, evolution lost all the e-mails, so I had to put them back.
Is there any way in Kubuntu to disable that keyring our automate it? Script files? Any help would be appreciated.
As one person said, I do not work for the CIA, and there are entirely too many passwords already which cannot be helped. even most URL's let you store the password.
I am reminded of my SIL. Otherwise, he is a great guy, but the computers in his house all have passwords, and he changes them from time to time But, if someone enters his house, passwords are not going to stop his computers from going out the door under someone's arm.
