    Kubuntu 9.04 upgraded to KDE 4.3.1, now cannot start and crash

    Hello,

    I'm running Jaunty ans just upgraded to KDE 4.3.1 using the PPA repository. Now my desktop doesn't start at all and I get this error message:

    "The Application Espace de travail plasma crashed and caused the signal 11"

    Now I'm stuck with the commande line using Ctrl-Alt-F1.

    How can I uninstall KDE 4.3.1 and go back to 4.2.2?

    I don't think your problem is KDE 4.3.1. Backing out really isn't an option unless you have a backup. From the error message, it appears a plasmoid or widget you have installed on your desktop is not working with the latest KDE. That's pretty easy to fix. As a test, rename your .kde directory to .kde.20090903 and login again.

      ok I'll try that.

      Strange though, since I never added any widget that is not in the standard list.

        Will it create the default desktop like a new installation?

          Yes it will but your settings are not gone. We are just renaming it for now to test.

            It still doesn't work.

            Any other suggestion before I re-install?
