    New KDE 4.3 update available

    Hi all

I see in the ppa repos that a new update is available for KDE 4.3, namely 4.3.1 (et al).

Is anyone aware whether this is a beta of an incremental upgrade, bugfix or something else!
I have no information on the Kubuntu website, KDE.news, etc.
I presume its on a KDE mailing that I do not subscribe to.

Also has anyone installed it to see if its stable enough for "general" use in Jaunty?

    Cheers

    Andy

An incremental KDE update is released each month. It will probably be publicized today, I'm guessing.

      Release cycle

The KDE team releases new versions on a regular basis.

      Platform releases
      ...
      Standard releases
      ...
Maintenance releases have three version numbers, e.g. KDE 1.1.1, and focus on fixing bugs, minor glitches and making small usability improvements. Maintenance releases in general do not allow new features although some releases include small enhancements. A shortened release schedule is used. Starting with the KDE 4 series, KDE has a maintenance release roughly every month, except during the month of a major release.

When the backport of the KDE 4.3.1 is released to the Jaunty, you could find the information from the Kubuntu.org

I just installed the update. The desktop appears stable but I received the following error. Makes me skittish about rebooting until the kernal error is fixed.

Thanks Rog131 & Nate. I should have looked at the Wiki :|

BTW It was not on Kubuntu.org when I looked.
So I got the updates in Jaunty PPA before anything else arrived on the desk.
Normally kde.org gets there first. Canonical must have been breaking records getting 4.3.1 out before anyone else did...

            Cheers
