[Solved] Confused as the where to download .deb packages

    Hi All,

I am going to be upgrading a customer from XP to 9.04 on Monday. He has dial up, so I wanted to download .deb packages for him in advance.

The final three I have yet to find are
    1) Firefox 3.5.2
    2) Thunderbird 2.0.0.23
    3) Google Picasa

Anyone know where I can download these from?

    Many thanks,
    -T

To get the first two use the script called Ubuntuzilla. Get it through here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...itle=Main_Page

Download the script. Right click on it.Install with Gdebi. Then run:
      ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p firefox
      ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p thunderbird
For Picasa add the Google Repository. Instructions here: http://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/ubuntu704.html

Okay. I should have stated that this computer is Cent OS 5.3. I need to download these three .deb's to a CD to bring to my customer's site. I have to have something I can go to with Firefox or wget and save to my hard drive (then k3b).

Not going to work... CentOS is based on Red Hat so .rpm instead of .deb

You might burn the apps but what about any dependancies?

              > Ubuntu Packages Search
This site provides you with information about all the packages available in the Ubuntu Package archive.
... and links to the source and the .deb package download.
              Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

Ooooops. Did not realize that was a link. Thank you. Got Firefox and Thunderbird. Got Open Office from their web site. That leaves Picasa. Not having much luck there.

                Thank you!

You are correct. Big problem. I am hoping the the Apt installer will go out over the modem and do that. Dial-up really sucks in this age.

                  Thank you,

Going to http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ directly does not seem to work:
Not Found The requested URL /linux/deb/ was not found on this server.
Tried https and ftp too. No joy.

Do you know of a method to get past this and directly download the package?

                      Never mind. Found it: http://picasa.google.com/linux/download.html

Thanks to everybody who helped me on this! This is my first customer on Kubuntu and my first workstation customer on Linux (other than my two). This is going to be a fun project.
