        Re: no updates

mmm... Your resolv.conf has your ISP DNA IP in it. You "should" be able resolve domain names.

Just for grins, rename resolv.conf to resolv.conf.bkup and create a new one with some public DNS IP in it.

What I am looking for is if you have a wireless connection, like what is shown in my wlan0 section.

If your wireless section doesn't have a 192.168.?.? kind of number then the wireless is not being configured.

              When I do

              pan0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
which shows an active connection with the wlan0. Yours may be named differently.

If you don't show a 192.168.x.y IP with ifconfig and a iwlist scanning listing doesn't show an active wireless then your wireless is not being recognized.

In that case we want to see what kind of wireless you have. To do that issue

              lspci

              in a Konsole.

Mine shows the following line, among many:
05:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5100
