xfce login takes aaaages

Hello there,

I just installed xfce4 on top of my jaunty kubuntu ...
and something seems to be wrong. It takes two or minutes
to login ... and then again it takes some time, before the
desktop starts to accept mouse clicks and stuff.

xfce on intrepid was just ... seconds.

Any idea what is going on?

I am thinking, maybe you are missing some dependencies? You could install xubuntu-desktop, but this will bring lots of downloads (office applications, etc)

He already has most of that stuff. Go ahead and install xubuntu-desktop.

well, if you are using Kubuntu, you are using Open Office, and I think xubuntu-desktop will bring a light gtk suite, with things like Abiword, etc. no? Still, I would definitely install the meta-package, and then perhaps remove whatever is not needed.

xubuntu-desktop: 231 packages, 600 MB or so.

Maybe not then ;-)
At least not today.
