Middle mouse pasts stopped working.

I use the highlight and middle mouse button paste all the time. In 9.04 it stopped working except in konsole and a few other places. Then I tried out 9.10 and the same thing. It would appear the the powers to be have decided to remove this handy feature all together. Does anyone know "why?" and how I can make it work again.

Middle click to paste works fine here? What apps are causing problems?

konqueror, kate, kmail well anything you can highlight text in except for konsole, it works. Did you upgrade or did you do a fresh install? Why I ask is because it might be something in your xorg.conf or another config file that did not get changed in the upgrade.

Now I tried middle click paste in kate and konqueror on two computers and it works fine. I have fresh install of Intrepid with upgrade to Jaunty on one computer and fresh install of Jaunty on the second computer.

Have you tried another mouse?

Yes this is on multiple computers as well.
So you are saying if you open konqueror and highlight text on the page (without control-c or edit-copy) then move your mouse to the address bar and push your mid mouse button it will put the highlighted text in the address bar?

Yes, just now I opened konqueror and highlighted the word Konqueror on the main page (without control-c or edit-copy) then I moved my mouse to the address bar and pushed my mid mouse button and it put the highlighted text in the address bar.

I hope I am not alone, can anyone else prove it?

Well, I can't paste highlighted webpage text from Firefox into a sticky note (middle click on the desktop). I can paste highlighted address/search bar or HTML text input field text, but not text from the webpage itself. When I try to do it, a menu appears ("Web browser" and "notes"); whatever I pick, the entire screen goes flat gray for a moment... when the gray disappears, existing sticky notes have their text erased. Definitely a bug there.

But I can paste into or from Kate and so on.

Hi,

I don't know if it's really related but I got the same trouble. I'm used to use third button on the mouse to open new tabs on konqueror or "open link in external navigator" in akregator or also to copy/paste everywhere.
And from the kde 4.3 update it's not working anymore, I need to use the simulated third click (from both right and left click)

Someone knows a solution ?
