I am using the KWord program from the KOffice suite. It is the 2.0 version, named 'Release Candidate 1'.
Apart from the fact that I like the look and feel of KWord above all others, I use it because it has a live on-screen word count. I am a freelance writer and need to keep articles within set limits, so for me this function is priceless.
The problem is that it has a huge bug - when I select a paragraph and delete, the whole program just crashes. This makes it unworkable.
The people at KDE informed me they have just released a bug fix (2.0.1) and maybe the one I am experiencing was in it. They linked me here to the Kubuntu site but I cannot fathom how to use their advice.
On one page (http://www.kubuntu.org/news/koffice-2) they say this;
If you are using the current 9.04 release add the backports Unsupported updates repository and install koffice-kde4.
And on another (http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.2.4) this;
A new bugfix KDE release is available to update Kubuntu 9.04.
Add this repository and do a full upgrade:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
Could anyone enlighten me please?
Thanks for your time.
