    -CLOSED-SoundKonverted files fail to play

Having painlessly installed SoundKonverter I gave it a test run last night, converting two albums from .ogg -> mp3. Despite appearing in Dolphin in my new SoundKonverter folder neither will play on Amarok. Nor do they play on my Blackberry - the only reason I'd ever leave ogg vorbis! :P This is Soundkonverter .3.8 for KDE 3.5.10. Having now reinstalled it I see it still doesn't play, nor is it reporting time signatures to the various tunes; each apparently taking no more than 1.5kb each. Anyone encounter similar issues, or should I email Dan Faust on it?

Re: SoundKonverted files fail to play

1-how did you install.......from package manager?

2-open SoundKonverter go to setings>backends and see if your showing programs in the dropdown boxes under .ogg & Mp3 thars 3 boxes in each catagorey and must have an entry and should be showing a green dot or at least yellow.

if not then you nead to install the apropreat program for it..............sutch as under the mp3 catagorey you should see lame for encoder lame for decoder and mp3gain for replaygain.

Re: SoundKonverted files fail to play

Thanks Vinny! I'm looking at the backends in Settings right now. Under MP3 I have FFMPEG for the encoder with yellow and an MP3Gain for the replay gain. Now there's another category called MPEG, MPG, MP3 that only has a decoder listed. However when I choose the output format on the Simple Tab it simply lists MP3. Could I have issues with either the replay gain or encoder packages?

Re: SoundKonverted files fail to play

Vinney I appreciate you mounting that Ubuntu link - very helpful. So I pursue the instructions for installing the Medibuntu repository, and after having downloaded some multiverse and universe repositories got the following -

W: GPG error: http://packages.medibuntu.org jaunty Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 2EBC26B60C5A2783

          OK

Bash then went on to install a few dozen archives and security packages, including a few labeled 'Medibuntu' before kicking out to the command line. So I visit SoundKonverter. Nope, no lame listed yet, at least not in the place you suggested. So I pay close attention to the error above, and run apt-get update. That brings me to the Medibuntu site, that promptly downloads the following -

I don't see any lame up there. I look to Soundkonverter again - still no lame. I visit Adept and type in lame. No lame, but Glame. Er, so what am I missing here.. ? Should I use Glame instead? Can I without first installing lame?
