Install VLC

Hi guys trying to install VLC following instructions from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-arts returns Couldn't find package vlc-plugin-arts.

I added deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/c-korn/vlc/ubuntu jaunty main and deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/c-korn/vlc/ubuntu jaunty main to the repos/
What am I missing?

In Intrepid and Jaunty I did nothing more than simple installed package vlc from repository. I didn't add no deb to the repos.

The instructions you are referring to seem a bit outdated. KDE4 (kubuntu 8.10 and newer) doesn't use arts (sound system).

Thanks Guys.

I was hoping VLC would record WWRL radio station wich uses windows media player. My wife records
the health programs in the morning aand I would like to get off Windows.

VLC woun't even play the show becaus it's says it's wainting for video nad it's a talk radio.

Oh well Back to mplayer plugin

My pleasure. Works like a charm

 vlc mms://nick11f.surfernetwork.com/wwrl

Then you can save as a Playlist, and click on it for playing in the future ...
(I have a vlc playlist for all my fav radios/tv channels).
