    Update-notifier-kde causes segmentation fault

As the subject says, I'm getting a segmentation fault when trying to run update-notifier-kde. I noticed that my notifier hasn't worked in a long time. The only way I know I have updates available is via apt-get update/upgrade or Synaptic. I'm running KDE 4.3, but I think the problem may have started under 4.2. Not sure, though.

    Any suggestions for fixing this?

By the way, I'm also missing the battery life notifier in my system tray (same one that tells me how fast the CPU is when I mouse over it). Not sure if that's related or not.

Maybe try this PPA packages? (from James)

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...de/+bug/353278

    Do they fix the crash?

No. Still getting the segmentation fault.

Mmm. It is running fine for me with those, in KDE 4.2. Have you installed the latest 4.3 updates?

I thought I was fully upgraded to the latest 4.3, but maybe not. I've had almost non-stop trouble with Jaunty from nearly the beginning, so I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and upgrade to Karmic beta. How much worse could things get, right?
