Dolphin rename dialog - whole filename selected

When I first installed Kubuntu 9.04 I'm sure the rename dialog in Dolphin would only select the name portion of the filename (ie not the dot or filetype suffix, so eg in 'music.flac' it would only have 'music' selected). At some point in the past that has changed so that when I rename something the whole lot is selected and I have to deselect and reselect the name part to keep the suffix (or retype). I don't know whether I did it inadvertently, or whether an update adjusted something.
Anyway, I'm finding this quite annoying! I can't seem to find an option to change this behaviour anywhere, can anyone suggest how I can fix this? Thanks!

It still works this way on my system and there seems to be nothing in the settings to adjust it.

I'm using KDE 4.2.4 and Dolphin 1.2.1 - does this match your version?
    Kubuntu 20.04(AMD64)/KDE 5

Yes, that's what I'm using too

EDIT: I've just worked it out. Having just renamed another file, I noticed that it seemed to be behaving again. Turns out that it was only on .jpg and .jpeg files that it wasn't working. So I went into 'properties' in the right-click menu on a .jpg, clicked on the little 'edit file type' button, and added .jpg and .jpeg to 'filename patterns'. Now it doesn't select the suffix on those files anymore!

      Thanks!
