Gnome, as different from KDE, has gnome-sound-recorder which will do the job. 1) I don't know if there is a KDE equivalent 2) I don't know if gnome-sound-recorder can be installed into KDE without too many dependancies.

BUT I Installed the hole gnome desktop 800+ .deb's
and have use of all the app's from both no mater witch one is up ................I think.
it dose look like it should be abel to pull it off and save in several formats as well.................
but like I sead LOOK's like ........I'v never tryed it so .......I dident even know it was thare untill I read this thred and looked....... .................but it looks ok.
