Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?

Thanks a lot everyone! after trying installing and removing many times, I finally succeeded thanks to this command: sudo apt-get install kmplayer gecko-mediaplayer. Thanks Ubuntu-freak so much for posting this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683, it's actually useful for whom new to linux. From now if you see anyone who gets into the trouble like me, just give out the aforementioned command. I'm very happy now!

I went to your web site and when it opened your "Please don't stop the music..." began playing immediately for me in FF 3.0.11

Dibl gave you the advice you need.

Go to this webpage, read the advice, and consider what you want or can do:

The problem hasn't been solved yet! Although there is a player in my browser(gnome player), it doesn't play any audio files. On the other hand, when I go to apple.com to watch the trailer, it plays the video with no sound?! What's the problem?

Is the speaker unmuted, and/or did you turn the volume up?

Check if your master channel is set to PCM. Right click on speaker icon then select master channel.

I think you misunderstood my question.

                        Is your laptop an HP?

If it is, what is its model number?

mmm... somewhere in these pages I thought I read where you were using an HP laptop. Must have been someone else.

                            Let's start over.

In you first post you asked about how to get streaming music from the web to play. Right?

Ok, let's back up some more. Do you hear any music at all when the KDE4 desktop starts up?

Thanks for all your advices, I knew what my problem was. The problem was gnome mplayer, it didn't play any files (music and video with all extensions I got on my computer), the condition was the same as aforementioned. Then I decided to reinstall kubuntu and gnome mplayer, now all work perfectly.

                                Ah, Good!

It's always good to md5sum check your ISO and compare that number it generates with the md5 sums posted on the download page. But, even though they may compare it is still possible to burn a bad CD by using too high a burn speed. Burning a digital data disk is not the same as burning an audio disk. One can burn an audio disk at as high a speed as the CDROM will go and if some of the waveform is garbled most listeners won't hear it. A single bit on an a good ISO improperly burned to the CD may cause the failure of the distro to install properly. That's why it is recommended to never burn an ISO at a speed greater than 8x.

Even then, during the install, a power fluctuation, observed or not, can cause a component of the distro to be improperly transfered to the HD. Rare, but it happens.
