kdesudo dolphin doesnt seem to work also. dolphin window pops up and that's pretty much it...

That seems to be an elusive bug to fix, although I haven't run into it in a while, so possibly it's fixed in KDE 4.3.

One work-around (that worked for me) is to run 'kdesudo konqueror' once per new kde session, after which 'kdesudo dolphin' should magically start working as well (seems like a dbus issue).

konqueror is better file browser than dolphin....

They both use dolphin's kpart for the actual file manager, so there aren't any differences in the core functionality...of course the feature set and tools are a bit different.

yes running kdesudo konqueror allows kdesudo dolphin to work properly...
