Kopete 4.2.4 problems....

    Kopete 4.2.4 problems....

    I can not get Kopete 4.2.4 to work with Yahoo, it keeps saying "connecting" but never connects. Pidgin connects to Yahoo with no problems. Does anyone know how to get Kopete working?

    I found the solution to Kopete not connecting to Yahoo chat.

    In the account preferences of your yahoo account , override server with this cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com.

    Kopete is working fine now with Yahoo chat.

      Yeah. I found the same solution as well yesterday.

      The problem is that Yahoo is upgrading their servers to the latest protocols, and Kopete has not yet added support for that.

      There is a fix available, but it has not reached us through the Kubuntu package system yet.

      Also, I do not think this is a problem specific to KDE 4.2.4 . I think it affects all Kopete version up to this.

        I figured others might want this information and it took me hours to find it. I am running an internal developmental build of Mint KDE CE and many here have helped me find answers to some complicated issues. I wanted to return the favour and give back to the community. There are some really nice people here!

        I wonder if someone could create a post in the documentation section of the forum with this information so that others can easily resolve this without spending a lot of time searching for the answer. Pidgin was alright as a temporary fix but Kopete is more desirable in a KDE based system.

        I also have a solid solution for the Intel issue in 9.04, thanks to the forum members here that provided the information to get the script to run properly in KDE.The solutions on the Ubuntu forum did not provide the proper solution for the script with the Kubuntu base. This information made all the difference for me!

          Thanks for the tip. It worked for me. If anyone is having the same problem with google talk on Kde 4.24 on Kubuntu 9.04 change the server name and maybe the port.Not too sure about he latter though. This page helped me out. http://amazing-development.com/archi...k-with-kopete/
