    How to use PPAs?

    Hello,

I'm trying to install the 'Nitrogen' window dressing scheme. https://launchpad.net/~samrog131/+archive/ppa

I've managed to do everything described in the 'how to install section', where it tells you to add the sources to your package manager and then use the PGP key id. I did all that and it worked fine.

    I followed this tutorial:
    https://launchpad.net/+help/soyuz/ppa-sources-list.html

However, the 'thing' I want to install doesn't show up in my package manager... which leaves me wondering, what next?

Thanks for any insight, folks. It was really intriguing learning how to use the PPAs, and I'd love to get it to work 100%.

well, I found the 'thing' I wanted, in another package manager. Odd. I wonder how that happened?

I added the PPA to Adept, and I used KPackageKit to download the 'thing'. They don't share repositories, do they?

So, I don't think my success is due to my own talents, but rather to dumb luck. Any advice is welcomed.

Her is a link to a file that contains a script that will automatically check your sources.list file and go get and install all of the gpg keys for any ppa repository you are using. Got this from the Ubuntu forum, from poster blackgr.

You have to make it executable and run it as sudo.
