Computer became slower/Google Earth worked, now doesn't

Yesterday, I install Kubuntu 9.04 on my system. Everything was, for the most part working fine. Today, I've noticed that things are running a little bit slower than yesterday. Is there something that could be "gumming" up the system? Or is this more or less a normal occurance?

Also, when my computer had Windows on it, Google Earth worked fine. When I tried to use it on Kubuntu yesterday, it didn't want to do anything! It was like pulling teeth! Is there anything that I can do to rectify this, or could it be that the Linux version of the program just isn't compatible with my computer?

    Thanks for your help!

There's not enough information here about your computer and other hardware to know how to answer -- except to note for the record "Linux is not Windows".

Could be you're not using the optimal video driver, could be your Internet service had a slowdown today ....

There is a link in my signature to a lot of FAQs about Kubuntu, including the very important #9 concerning how to get your multimedia stuff running well. You might want to review that, and if there are still problems, give us some specifics.

I'm well aware that Linux isn't Windows. On my old computer I ran Ubuntu and Kubuntu at different times. I compared my current state to Windows so it would be known that everything did work well before.

      Thanks, I'll check that out.
