No sound for gnome apps in KUbuntu 9.04 (FF, VLC, Flash)

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04 using live CD. Sound is working out-of-the-box for KDE apps, but i believe there are configuration missing for gnome apps, which leads to no sound in all gnome based apps. This hurts more as all the websites use flash for video and there is no sound in flash.

I didnt make changes to the sound settings, it is what ever that was set in the install

surprisingly, right after I posted this message, i found it myself (i have been trying for a month without any success). In KMix, initially my Front and Master were set to full and PCM was zero. With this setting KDE apps didnt have any issue. But Gnome apps were muted. Setting PCM to max did the work for Gnome apps. I still dont understand why KDE is fine PCM set to zero but Gnome has issues. But I am happy that at the least it is working now.
